The board of DevelopmentWA has approved Woods Bagot's design for a 21-storey mixed-use tower in the Perth City Link precinct.

Perth City Link is a 13.5-hectare precinct that will reconnect the CBD and Northbridge for the first time in 100 years by sinking the railway line and bus station underground.

The precinct spans from Yagan Square to Perth Arena. It will also accommodate the city campus for Edith Cowan University.

Lot 9 is one of five sites owned by developer Far East Consortium, three of which are designed by Woods Bagot. The approved tower will accommodate 29,000 square metres of lettable area, three outdoor terraces, a lobby and a roof garden with views toward Northbridge.

Woods Bagot principal Kukame McPierzie said, "We've approached the design holistically, developing a sequence of buildings that support activated public spaces, provide fine grain interfaces and a diversity of destinations for people to live and work."

"With the tower at Lot 9, we've used our environmental toolkits to optimize its shape - a performance-based approach with multiple benefits, including maximizing light into the nearby public realm, the creation of flexible and desirable floorplates and a building with a dynamic form and scale," McPierzie continued.
